The Doom Machine (1/19): Frying The Narrative

Everything of little importance is said prior to kickoff in a firesale of promotion via media generated narrative. All businesses go out defeated, but sports, and more specifically their respective leagues, seem to have a constant going out of business sale in progress. This odd behavior is due to the fact that without the narrative you have a bare version of the sporting event attractive only to that small segment of the population that watches with genuine interest.

Random Generator: I Played Clash Of Clans & You Should Too

Clash of Clans (Clans from here on out) is free, it takes very little time to download and it's a strategy game you can play on your phone. I was sold instantaneously. Clans is probably the game that bigger boys, but boys nonetheless, play. Or at least that's what I like to tell myself.

SEO Magician

My powers are where they must be. What they say is true, I am a necromancer. It was last night that I willed the ghost of Toney Douglas into material existence. With a simple tweet his stock rose to the point of relevance and was carried off into a world of limitlessness.

The Doom Machine (1/14): Suns Saga

It's a Knicks versus Suns regular season game in MSG. A strangely warm January day in New York has already caught me off guard once with a wardrobe malfunction creating a mid-June simulation within my jacket. I am no match for nature, who incidentally has no feminist leanings that would make it proud to be called Mother Nature. Remember, the Knicks are playing the Suns; the plural of the most powerful celestial body in our sky. This is bigger than the Knicks.

The Lazy Artist

In my last post I said I had a reoccurring thought between two different classes. It was sometime during the semester that I had become really dissatisfied with my art. I couldn't see any growth in my art. It started to seem bland and boring. I felt unmotivated and uninterested. Everything I made seemed like just an attempt to retain muscle memory. It was as if I was only drawing because I was an artist that had to draw, not because I was having fun, or because I was drawing something I genuinely wanted to draw.

Screaming Into The Ether

Sometime during this past fall semester of school I had an idea for a post to write here. I found myself in my illustration class on Wednesday with a certain thought, and the reappearance of that thought during my animation class on Friday made me realize it was a subject I could share my thoughts about. I never actually wrote that post. I find that happening often when it comes to writing in a space that is open to the public.

The Doom Machine

If you look now they're finally playing well. It's without Tyson Chandler or logic. Because that which thrives on chaos is bound to return to it after dabbling in putting something coherent together. Who needs coherence anyway? (See: JR Smith) And I don't really care much about an adult untying another adult's shoelaces unless the culprit is a millionaire. Money over everything.

No Place Like Home

The weekend brings about a flattering reflection on my legacy. I spin a short autobiography that explains my flunking out of normalcy and the cooler lunch tables. First, you have to create a persona that would negate any proposal along the lines of "let's go to X place and drink" before it is conceived. Your aura would translate this proposal into: "let's willingly (!!!) pay seven times as much for this mid-level bottle of liquor..." and the words would simply turn into vomit in the mouth of our proposer. Whatever the situation calling for celebration may be it is never good enough to get me dressed (appropriately). I exaggerate, but we all do from time to time.
